Limits and Punishments set by Allah (Hudood) — Hadith 6792
Narrated `Aisha:
The hand of a thief was not cut off during the lifetime of the Prophet (ﷺ) except for stealing something equal to a shield in value. A similar hadith is narrated from `Aisha through another chain.
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَتْنِي عَائِشَةُ، أَنَّ يَدَ السَّارِقِ، لَمْ تُقْطَعْ عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِلاَّ فِي ثَمَنِ مِجَنٍّ حَجَفَةٍ أَوْ تُرْسٍ.حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، مِثْلَهُ.
