فَكُلِي وَٱشۡرَبِي وَقَرِّي عَيۡنٗاۖ فَإِمَّا تَرَيِنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡبَشَرِ أَحَدٗا فَقُولِيٓ إِنِّي نَذَرۡتُ لِلرَّحۡمَٰنِ صَوۡمٗا فَلَنۡ أُكَلِّمَ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ إِنسِيّٗا
So eat and drink, and put your heart at ease. But if you see any of the people, say, ‘I have vowed silence to the Most Beneficent, so I am not talking to anyone today.’”
Commentary
So eat of the ripe dates, drink of the water, and be pleased with your child and do not grieve. And if you see any person who asks you regarding the child, say to him: ‘I have bound myself to silence for my Lord’s sake, so I will not speak to any person today’”.
