Then one of the two women came to him, walking bashfully. She said, “My father is inviting you so he may reward you for watering ˹our animals˺ for us.” When Moses came to him and told him his whole story, the old man said, “Have no fear! You are ˹now˺ safe from the wrongdoing people.”
Commentary
When they went back, they informed their father of Moses, so he sent one of them to him, inviting him. She approached him walking modestly, saying, “Indeed, my father is inviting you to meet him, intending to reward you for watering our livestock for us.” When Moses came to their father and told him of his situation, he reassuringly told him, “Do not fear, for you have escaped from an oppressive nation: Pharaoh and his crowd. They have no authority over Madyan, so they will not be able to harm you.”
