Aslam

Dawud was a young man when he faced Jalut (Goliath), the mighty warrior king. When the armies met, the soldiers of Talut (Saul) were afraid. But Dawud, with Allah's permission, killed Jalut. Allah gave Dawud the kingdom, wisdom, and taught him what He willed.

As both king and prophet, Dawud was given extraordinary gifts. Allah softened iron in his hands — he could shape it without fire, crafting coats of chainmail armor. He was given the Zabur (Psalms), and when he recited, the mountains and birds would echo his praise of Allah, glorifying at sunrise and sunset.

Dawud was also tested in his judgement. Two men came to him with a dispute — one had ninety-nine ewes and the other had just one, yet the first demanded the other's single ewe. Dawud ruled in favour of the weaker party, then realised this was a test from Allah. He fell into prostration and repented. Allah forgave him and gave him nearness and a beautiful return.

Allah told him: "O Dawud, indeed We have made you a successor upon the earth, so judge between the people in truth and do not follow your own desire, as it will lead you astray from the way of Allah."
