Sent to the People of 'Ad
The people of 'Ad were powerful and prosperous, building great monuments and towers on every elevation. They thought they were invincible. Allah sent them the prophet Hud, who said: "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. Will you not fear Him?"
They mocked him: "We are not going to leave our gods for your saying, and we are not believers in you." They challenged him to bring the punishment he threatened. So Allah sent upon them a furious wind for seven nights and eight days without stopping — it destroyed everything in its path. After the wind, nothing remained of the great people of 'Ad but their empty ruins.
