Ilyas was sent to his people who had begun worshipping an idol called Baal. He confronted them directly: "Will you not fear Allah? Do you call upon Baal and leave the best of creators — Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers?" They denied him. But Ilyas is praised: "Indeed, he was of Our believing servants. And indeed, Ilyas was from among the messengers. Peace upon Ilyas."
