Isaac — The Promised Son

When the angels visited Ibrahim on their way to destroy the people of Lut, they brought good news. Ibrahim's wife Sarah laughed in astonishment when they told her she would have a son — she was old and her husband was elderly. The angels said: "Do you wonder at the decree of Allah? May the mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you, people of the house."

Ishaq was born as promised. Through him, the line of Israelite prophets continued — his son was Yaqub, and from Yaqub came the twelve tribes of Israel. Allah blessed both Ishaq and his descendants, among whom were those who did good and those who clearly wronged themselves.
