Sent to the People of Madyan
The people of Madyan were merchants who cheated in their measurements. They gave less when they sold and demanded more when they bought. The prophet Shu'ayb — known for his eloquence — was sent to them.
He said: "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. And do not decrease from the measure and the scale. Indeed, I see you in prosperity, but I fear for you the punishment of an all-encompassing Day." They said he was just a man bewitched, and they denied him. An earthquake seized them, and they lay fallen in their homes — as if they had never prospered there.
